Job Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Payroll Assistant to make sure that employees are paid accurately and on time. The Payroll Assistant will be responsible for collecting information about employees' work hours and deductions, and making sure it is entered correctly into our payroll software. They will also be responsible for answering questions from employees about their pay.

In order to be successful as a Payroll Assistant, you should be good with numbers and have a strong desire to help businesses run smoothly. An excellent Payroll Assistant will be able to find and fix any mistakes in the payroll process before they affect employees' paychecks.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Gather and review timesheets to make sure they are accurate
  • Enter start and end times into the payroll software
  • Record approved vacation and sick time
  • Calculate overtime pay and vacation pay, if applicable
  • Make sure all required and optional deductions are processed correctly
  • Prepare and distribute paychecks
  • Complete all tasks before the pay run deadline to ensure employees are paid on time
  • Answer questions from employees about their pay
  • Resolve any issues with pay as quickly as possible

Requirements and Qualifications

  • High school diploma
  • Completed bookkeeping or similar course is a plus
  • Prior experience as a Payroll Assistant, ideally in a similar sized company
  • Familiarity with payroll software
  • Strong data entry, data cleaning, and math skills
  • Knowledge of laws and procedures related to payroll deductions
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks at once
