We are currently seeking a qualified Payroll Officer to join our HR team. In this role, you will be responsible for tracking and managing our company's payroll data. This includes tracking employee work hours, preparing compensation checks, calculating bonuses and deductions, and addressing employee questions about wages and deductions.
To be successful as a Payroll Officer, you should have a strong understanding of accounting and payroll procedures, knowledge of labor laws, and advanced mathematical skills. You should also be able to process payment checks on time and resolve any payroll issues in a timely manner.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Collecting employee timesheets on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
- Calculating employee work hours.
- Calculating employee benefits and deductions.
- Preparing employee compensation checks using payroll software.
- Ensuring compliance with company and state tax regulations.
- Scheduling electronic payments and distributing paychecks.
- Preparing payroll reports.
- Distributing payment statements to employees.
- Addressing employee questions about compensation, taxes, benefits, and deductions.
- Entering new employee data into the company database.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, human resources, or a related field.
- Previous experience working as a Payroll Officer.
- Strong attention to detail and advanced mathematical skills.
- Proficient in popular payroll software such as Quickbooks, Sage, EPAY, and Gusto.
- Familiarity with accounting software and procedures.
- Ability to handle confidential information.
- Knowledge of state labor laws.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Able to prepare and present financial reports.
