Job Description
The Upper School Counselor for Grades 9 & 10 at Connelly School of the Holy Child is responsible for providing comprehensive counseling services to students in the 9th and 10th grades, supporting their academic, social, emotional, and personal development. This role is essential in helping students navigate the challenges of early high school, ensuring they have the resources and guidance they need to thrive both personally and academically.
The counselor will work closely with students, parents, and faculty to foster a supportive educational environment and promote the overall well-being of each student. This position includes conducting individual counseling sessions, facilitating group workshops, and collaborating with teachers and administrators to address specific student needs. The Upper School Counselor should also develop and implement programs and initiatives that align with the mission and values of Connelly School of the Holy Child.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and group counseling to students in grades 9 and 10, helping them navigate academic pressures, personal challenges, and interpersonal relationships.
- Conduct workshops and presentations on topics such as stress management, time management, and social-emotional learning.
- Maintain regular communication with parents, guardians, and faculty to discuss student progress and development.
- Help students identify and achieve personal and academic goals, and guide them in making informed decisions.
- Support students in crisis and facilitate the appropriate interventions when necessary.
- Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to develop and implement programs that promote positive mental health and wellness.
- Stay current with educational and counseling best practices, including trends in adolescent development and mental health.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school community events.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field.
- Current licensure or certification in school counseling is preferred.
- A minimum of two years of experience in a school counseling setting, preferably working with high school students.
- Strong understanding of adolescent development and mental health issues pertinent to high school-aged students.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with students, families, and faculty.
- Commitment to creating an inclusive environment that appreciates diversity.
- Proficiency in data management and reporting related to student progress and counseling initiatives.
- Passion for promoting student well-being and academic success while aligning with the mission and values of Connelly School of the Holy Child.

Salary Range: $47,600 - $70,500.
Nevertheless, pay is commensurate with education and experience, and is calculated according to a school-wide pay scale.
