Job Description
A Lead Billing Specialist/Accountant Representative responsibilities including overseeing and managing the billing process, resolving billing issues, training and mentoring billing staff, and ensuring accurate and timely billing and payment processing.
Key Responsibilities:
Billing Process Oversight:
Oversee the entire billing process, from invoice creation to payment collection.
Ensure accurate and timely billing and payment processing.
Review and reconcile billing statements and reports.
Monitor billing activities and processes to ensure timely billing and receipt of payment.
Issue Resolution:
Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies and customer inquiries.
Provide excellent customer service to patients, staff, and payers.
Handle patient complaints and inquiries regarding billing.
Team Leadership & Training:
Train and mentor billing staff on billing procedures and best practices.
Provide guidance and support to billing staff.
Financial Accuracy & Compliance:
Maintain accurate records of customer accounts and outstanding balances.
Ensure compliance with relevant billing regulations and policies.
Identify and process write-offs, resolve credit balances.
Other Duties:
Prepare and review reports to ensure that rejections, denials, and unpaid balances are followed up on.
Assist with other accounting tasks as needed.
Maintain and/or ensure maintenance of client records related to invoicing and bill payment.
Work Environment :
On site Monday through Friday, rotating Saturdays
Requirements
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field preferred.
Experience: 4+ years of proven experience in billing, accounts receivable, or accounting roles.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in billing software, accounting systems and MS Office Suite and or Google Suite.
Soft Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Other: Knowledge of billing regulations and policies, experience with legal billing (preferred,) and ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
