Amazon?s Global Supplier Management team (GSM) is responsible for the strategy, development and execution of the global supplier management activity within Worldwide Operations. The GSM team directly supports the Global Procurement Organization (GPO), overseeing a spend of $45B. As our Global Supplier Management team continues to grow, we are seeking a Supplier Operations Manager to partner with internal business owners and key stakeholders to drive procurement and operational value for Amazon. This role leads the development and execution of indirect buy capital sourcing strategies for critical components and projects. Our Supplier Operations Managers drive efficiencies in procurement strategy and commercial contract management, enable engineering efficiencies through effective partnership with Amazon?s design teams, and support Amazon?s long-term business interests through supplier partnerships.

The nature of this scope requires a Supplier Operations Manager to work across organizations and influence internal and external stakeholders. Internally, the person in this role works with stakeholders to drive strategy, enable execution, and identify and mitigate risks. Externally, this role serves as one of the primary supplier-facing roles and is responsible for ensuring Amazon?s policies are adhered to.

This role is expected to operate both at the tactical and strategic level.

Lead Global Supplier Management initiatives to improve supplier performance, mitigate supply risk, and strategically expand the supplier base.

Develop and nurture strong relationships with key suppliers, business partners, and internal stakeholders to align with Amazon's strategic business direction and priorities.

Support multi-year strategic plans for material handling spend, focusing on maximizing supplier performance in capacity, cost, quality, delivery, and safety.

Facilitate suppliers' understanding of Amazon's policies, equipment design specifications, budget targets, and quality expectations.

Leverage data-driven decision-making to develop metrics and processes that drive continuous improvement across Amazon's supply chain operations.

Develop and maintain an end-to-end, holistic view of supplier performance and value throughout the relationship lifecycle, encompassing:

sustainability initiatives aligned with Amazon's Climate Pledge, commitment to building a diversified supplier spend, compliance with Amazon's policies and standards, dedication to progressive partnership and innovation, long-term value creation and continuous improvement, social responsibility and ethical business practices, adaptability to Amazon's evolving business needs and market dynamics

About the team

The Global Supplier Management team has four key pillars which includes Supplier Contract Management, Supplier Risk Management, Supplier Performance Management and Supplier Relationship Management (SRM). The GSM team will work with Category Teams, the Project Management Organization (PMO), Worldwide Design Engineering (WWDE), Finance, Global Engineering Services (GES) Operations Engineering (Ops Eng.), and Reliability and Maintenance Engineering (RME) to accomplish key deliverables across the indirect spend. The primary objectives of the GSM team are to work with critical suppliers and internal teams to improve Return on Investment for the business through impactful supplier management activities. The GSM team is also focused on mitigating risk, improving supplier performance, and driving Amazon's sustainability and diversity goals through supplier partners.

Our Global Procurement Organization (GPO) manages the procurement lifecycle of complex projects necessary to support Amazon?s growth and customer commitments. This work includes initial project planning based on Amazon?s Plan of Record (POR), development of sourcing strategies, supplier approvals, qualifications for scope of work, the solicitation of firm pricing proposals, and proposal analysis, review, and acceptance, culminating in issuance of Amazon Purchase Orders (POs) for services. Post-PO, our team serves as a critical resource resolving start up escalations and supplier issues and existing FC?s, partnering closely with Category teams.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Operations, Business Administration, or a STEM field

5+ years of program engineer, project management, or process engineer

5+ years of supplier chain and supplier management experience

Experience with complex Material Handling Equipment or large equipment design, install, or program engineering based on lean Manufacturing or Toyota Manufacturing System

Preferred Qualifications

2+ years of driving process improvements experience

Master's degree, or MBA in business, operations, human resources, adult education, organizational development, instructional design or related field

Operations Management or Fulfillment Center Experience

Exposure to Six Sigma, Lean manufacturing efforts, and Transportation/Logistics/Fulfillment/ Distribution Centers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $103,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $181,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
