A well-established national distribution company is seeking a Senior Procurement Manager to lead its purchasing, inventory, and supply chain strategy . Role Overview
The Senior Procurement Manager will oversee the procurement, purchasing, and inventory strategy for multiple locations, managing a team of buyers and planners . The role requires strong strategic sourcing, demand planning, and vendor negotiation skills . A deep understanding of import/export compliance and customs brokerage is essential.
This position reports directly to the President and will be responsible for enhancing supply chain processes, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring optimal inventory levels.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop & execute procurement and supply chain strategies to optimize costs, inventory levels, and supplier performance .
- Lead a multi-location team of buyers and planners to ensure alignment across purchasing, inventory, and distribution functions.
- Manage supplier relationships by negotiating pricing, contracts, and strategic sourcing initiatives.
- Ensure import/export compliance by working closely with customs brokers and regulatory agencies.
- Improve demand planning and inventory management processes to ensure stock availability while minimizing excess inventory.
- Drive process improvements to enhance supply chain efficiency in a fast-paced, hands-on environment .
- Implement safety and compliance best practices within procurement and warehouse operations.
Qualifications & Experience
10+ years of experience in supply chain and purchasing management .
Industry experience in Distribution is REQUIRED (Building materials, hardware, fencing, structural steel, or related fields preferred).
Imports/Exports Procurement & Customs Broker experience is REQUIRED .
Proven experience managing a distributed procurement team across multiple locations.
Strong background in demand planning, inventory management, and supplier negotiations .
Hands-on leadership style , able to make strategic decisions while being involved in daily operations.
Knowledge of safety & compliance best practices in warehouse and distribution environments.
