Senior Systems Engineer (Network)

First Division Consulting is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer (Network) to support a Department of the Navy (DoN) customer in Dahlgren, VA . The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in network architecture, design, implementation, and security within a high-stakes DoD environment .

This role will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing secure network infrastructures , leveraging Cisco, Juniper, TCP/IP, and VoIP technologies , while ensuring compliance with DoD cybersecurity policies .

• Design, implement, and manage secure LAN/WAN architectures for a DoD operational environment .
• Configure and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, and fiber optic networking solutions .
• Utilize Cisco and Juniper networking technologies to enhance network security and performance.
• Oversee cable plant design and network infrastructure installations , ensuring mission-critical availability.
• Implement VoIP solutions , optimizing performance and security for voice communications.
• Conduct network performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization to ensure operational efficiency.
• Support cybersecurity compliance efforts , including security configurations and risk management in accordance with DoD policies.
• Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, cybersecurity experts, and DoD stakeholders to enhance network capabilities.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

• Six (6) years of professional experience in:
• Designing and implementing LAN/WAN networks within corporate or DoD environments .
• Configuring and maintaining network infrastructure using Cisco and Juniper technologies .
• TCP/IP and VoIP technology integration .
• Managing routers, switches, fiber optics, firewalls, and structured cable plant designs .
• Active Top Secret (TS) Clearance with SCI eligibility .
• One of the following IT certifications:
• CASP+ (CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner)
• CCNP Security (Cisco Certified Network Professional Security)
• CCSP (Certified Cloud Security Professional)
• GCIH (GIAC Certified Incident Handler)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience supporting DoD or government network operations .
• Strong knowledge of Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) and DoD cybersecurity frameworks .
• Expertise in network automation, scripting, and virtualization technologies .
• Familiarity with cloud-based networking solutions for hybrid environments.
