Senior Physical Infrastructure Specialist

First Division Consulting Inc. (FirstDiv) is seeking a Senior Physical Infrastructure Specialist to support a Department of the Navy (DoN) customer in Dahlgren, VA . This position will focus on assessing, configuring, and maintaining physical infrastructure systems , ensuring they meet mission-critical requirements. The ideal candidate will have experience installing and maintaining fiber optic, coaxial, and twisted-pair cable plants and utilizing various network protocols, test equipment, and diagnostics to support infrastructure operations.

This role is critical in maintaining the integrity and reliability of physical IT and network infrastructure , directly contributing to system readiness and operational effectiveness .

• Install, configure, and maintain fiber optic, coaxial, and twisted-pair cable plants.
• Conduct network infrastructure assessments to ensure compliance with industry and DoN standards.
• Utilize various network protocols, test equipment, and diagnostics tools to troubleshoot and optimize network performance.
• Support the development, operation, and maintenance of physical IT infrastructure.
• Work with cross-functional teams to align infrastructure installations with mission requirements .
• Ensure adherence to DoD and cybersecurity policies for physical infrastructure security and performance.
• Maintain technical documentation, network diagrams, and reports related to infrastructure design and maintenance.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

• Six (6) years of professional experience in:
• Installing and maintaining fiber optic, coaxial, and twisted-pair cable plants.
• Working with network protocols, test equipment, and diagnostics tools for troubleshooting.
• Active Secret Clearance is required.
• BICSI ITS (Information Technology Systems) Installer Level 2 (Copper and Fiber) certification .
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to assess and resolve infrastructure issues efficiently.
• Experience working in DoD or government network environments is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with structured cabling systems, enterprise network infrastructure, and military communication systems .
• Experience supporting large-scale physical infrastructure projects in mission-critical environments.
• Knowledge of fiber optic splicing, cable testing procedures, and network security best practices .

Physical Requirements:

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, reach, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, and keyboard.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work.
• Light to moderate lifting may be required.
• Regular, predictable attendance is required.
