Payroll Specialist

Summary:

The payroll specialist processes time records, calculates biweekly payroll, and performs other activities to ensure employees receive accurate pay while maintaining compliance with relevant policies and laws.

Essential duties and responsibilities

• Calculate, review, and distribute pay according to university policy.
• Prepare reports and audits such as quarterly tax filings, reemployment liabilities, workers? compensation, 5500, and W-2's.
• Maintain payroll records in compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Communicate with managers and employees regarding payroll systems and processes.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding all payroll and employee related matters.
• Contribute to team effort by executing special projects and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities

• Knowledge of state payroll rules and regulations; multi-state experience preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to problem-solve and work independently.
• High attention to detail and ability to calculate figures and amounts accurately.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other computer systems; Workday preferred.

Minimum qualifications

• High School Diploma or G.E.D.; Bachelor's preferred.
• At least two (2) years' experience processing payroll.
