Paint Assistant

The Paint Assistant plays a crucial role in the Paint Department, providing support in the preparation and finishing processes required for high-quality paint applications on New Flyer transit buses. This position involves working closely with experienced painters to develop skills and expertise in paint application techniques, ensuring a premium finish for each vehicle.

• Assist with the cleaning, prepping, and masking of buses prior to paint application.
• Utilize tools and equipment such as spray guns, sanders, and buffers to assist in the painting process.
• Support painters by mixing paints and coatings according to specifications.
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring all safety protocols and guidelines are followed.
• Learn and apply techniques for quality control checks on paint finishes.
• Participate in training sessions to acquire knowledge of materials and processes used in the painting industry.
• Assist with the touch-up of painted surfaces as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Paint Supervisor or management.

Requirements

• Some previous experience in a manufacturing or paint related environment is an asset, but not required.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
• Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn new skills.
• Excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
• Physical stamina to stand for long periods and handle repetitive tasks.
• Must be able to adhere to safety practices and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
