Position description

UCLA Linguistics Department: Lecturer in Linguistics Position AY 2026-2027

The UCLA Department of Linguistics invites applications for a full-time Lecturer in Linguistics, with a specialization in Phonetics and Phonology, for the 2026-2027 academic year. The teaching load for the position is 6 undergraduate courses, and courses will be assigned at the discretion of the department.

Possible course assignments include:

  • Introduction to General Phonetics
  • Introduction to Applied Phonetics
  • Experimental Phonetics
  • Applied Phonology
  • Linguistics & Speech Pathology

Basic qualifications

The UCLA Department of Linguistics invites applications for a part-time Lecturer for the 2026-2027 academic year to teach 6 courses and thus have expertise in the following:

  • Phonetics
  • Phonology

Minimum educational degree (preferred) - Ph.D. with specialization in related field desirable.

The department will adhere to the Academic Personnel policies governing Unit 18 Lecturer appointments and promotions in order to recruit and retain a diverse faculty and to continue to contribute to the diversity goals of the UC.
