Antitrust Mid-Level Associate

Freshfields US is seeking highly qualified mid-level associates to join our growing Consumer Protection practice within the US Antitrust, Competition & Trade (ACT) group in our Washington, D.C. office. Ideal candidates will have 2?5 years of experience in a U.S. law firm or federal agency?particularly the Federal Trade Commission (FTC)? and outstanding academic credentials. Freshfields? global antitrust practice is widely recognized as the world's leading cross-border antitrust practice involved in the most cutting-edge international antitrust matters for the world's most demanding and exciting clients. In the US, Freshfields has long boasted a destination antitrust practice that has experienced exciting growth in recent years. This vibrant practice includes both agency-facing and litigation matters in various federal and state courts across the country. We are now seeking to develop a strong Consumer Protection bench that matches the depth and breadth of our antitrust capabilities to meet increasing client demand for regulatory counseling, enforcement defense, and risk management across areas such as privacy, data security, advertising and marketing, consumer reporting, and financial products. Candidates should have hands-on experience with consumer protection laws, FTC or state AG investigations, and related compliance matters. Experience with class action litigation, especially in connection with regulatory enforcement, is a plus. Successful candidates will: Have prior experience at the FTC, another federal/state consumer protection authority, or a law firm with a strong consumer protection practice. Be comfortable interacting with regulators and responding to complex inquiries. Possess strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills. Thrive in a collaborative environment and be eager to help train junior associates. Be proactive, collegial, and able to manage multiple workstreams efficiently. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range for this position is $235,000 - $390,000, commensurate with experience, and the firm provides bonuses to associates in good standing consistent with the California and New York legal markets.
