What Machine Operation contributes to Cardinal Health

Manufacturing is responsible for cost of production and maintenance activities including process improvement, supply chain management, quality assurance, employee safety and engagement, and environmental commitment.

Machine Operation sets up and operates a variety of machine tools to make metal parts, mechanisms, tools, or machines to exacting tolerances and dimensions. Interprets blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications; determines sequence of operations, number of cuts required, and method of setup; uses a variety of machinist's hand tools and precision measuring instruments; makes standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, feeds, and speeds; measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points to lay out stock for machining; fits and assembles precision parts into mechanical equipment and determines material, parts, and equipment required. Some machines may be numerically controlled. May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures. Typically requires completion of a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.

Responsibilities:

Operate / monitor / tend a group of assigned looms

Cycles machines steadily to reduce stoppage downtime and correct quality defects

Monitor and Maintain Knitting and Weaving machines through daily housekeeping, correcting off quality conditions and placing machines back into production as quickly as possible.

uses a variety of hand tools (hooks, razor knife and scissors)

Communicates verbally and by writing issues affecting specific machine performance.

Interact/communicate with supporting team members to ensure safety, quality and efficiency.

Troubleshoot and correct certain issues affecting quality and performance.

Maintain 6S compliance

Qualifications

2-4 years of experience, preferred

High School diploma, GED or equivalent, or equivalent work experience, preferred

What is expected of you and others at this level

Applies knowledge and company policies to complete a variety of tasks

Demonstrates a working knowledge of jobs outside area of responsibility

Maintains appropriate licenses, training and certifications

Works on assignments that are moderately difficult requiring judgment in resolving issues

May assist in recommendation of processes on new assignments

Adheres to all quality guidelines

Works with limited supervision

Work occasionally involves review of output by work lead or supervisor

May provide general guidance or technical assistance to less experienced team members

Pay rate:

$19.00 per hour (includes shift differential)
