KOMAN Construction, LLC. has a lucrative career opportunity for a seasoned Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) with construction and federal contracting experience to support our DoD construction projects in the United States.

What does the position do?

  • Responsible for the daily enforcement of all established safety programs, regulations, and safe work practices.
  • Provide instructions to workers on safe work procedures, safety regulations, and emergency plans.
  • Provide support and administrative assistance on project specific Accident Prevention Plan (APP).
  • Investigate incidents promptly to identify underlying causes. Complete necessary documents and report to Safety Director.
  • Perform regular on-site hazard assessments to identify unsafe work practices and hazards. Provide recommendations to eliminate issues and ensure corrective action is taken.
  • Conduct routine equipment inspections.
  • Assist in performing compliance audits and implement follow-up corrective actions to ensure compliance with Occupational Health & Safety and Safety Policy.
  • Ensure daily and weekly safety meetings are performed and documented for all site employees and subcontractors.
  • Provide weekly safety reports to the Safety Director.
  • Keep up with current knowledge of safety literature, regulations and codes or practice.
  • Performs other duties as are appropriate and as assigned.

What will top candidates bring to the table?

  • 5 years of construction industry safety experience
  • 5 years of Federal Government Contracting experience is required.
  • At least 24 hours of formal safety training each year for the past 5 years.
  • Active 30-Hour OSHA is required.
  • Active EM385-1-1 is highly preferred.
  • Active CPR and First Aid is highly preferred.
