Digital Modernization Sector
is seeking a
Site Reliability Engineer (SRE)
to support the
US Space Force?s Space Systems Command (SSC)
and its mission-critical
Kobayashi Maru
program.
In this role, you will combine
software engineering, systems engineering, and operations expertise
to ensure the reliability, scalability, and security of hybrid cloud infrastructure in a
DoD-compliant environment . You will design and implement cutting-edge
cloud automation solutions , optimize performance, and support mission-critical systems for space operations.
Primary Responsibilities:
Architect, deploy, and manage hybrid cloud environments that integrate on-premises and cloud-based infrastructure.
Ensure high availability, security, and scalability of mission-critical systems.
Utilize Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools (Terraform, CloudFormation) to automate provisioning and management.
Reduce manual tasks by implementing self-healing, automated workflows.
Develop, maintain, and optimize continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for efficient software delivery.
Automate testing, integration, and infrastructure updates to enhance deployment speed and reliability.
Utilize real-time monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana) to detect and resolve issues before they impact operations.
Develop incident response strategies to ensure system reliability and rapid recovery.
Work closely with DevOps, software engineering, and security teams to drive automation, troubleshoot issues, and implement scalable solutions.
Improve operational efficiency and support system hardening efforts.
Basic Qualifications:
Requires BS and 8+ years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6+ years of prior relevant experience, additional years of experience will be accepted in lieu of a degree.
Must be a U.S. citizen and possess an active DoD Secret clearance.
Must hold a DoD IAT Level II or higher 8570/8140 compliant certification (e.g., Security+ CE, CASP).
Extensive knowledge of cloud computing platforms, including AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, such as Terraform and CloudFormation, for automating cloud deployments.
Proficiency in monitoring and observability tools, including Prometheus and Grafana, with a strong background in incident management and response.
Deep understanding of security best practices for hybrid cloud environments, ensuring compliance and risk mitigation.
Strong scripting and automation skills using Python, Bash, and PowerShell to streamline cloud operations.
Proven experience in managing and troubleshooting cloud-native applications and services, optimizing performance and reliability.
Expertise in containerization and orchestration technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes, for scalable application deployment.
Familiarity with Agile project management tools, such as Confluence and JIRA, for collaboration and workflow tracking.

Familiarity with DoD RMF (Risk Management Framework) and other DoD-specific compliance standards.
Experience with multi-cloud and hybrid-cloud architectures.
