Shipping Superintendent

General:

The Shipping Superintendent at Prestage plays a pivotal role in overseeing the entire shipping process, ensuring that all operational aspects are executed efficiently and effectively. This leadership position requires the individual to manage the shipping department, supervise staff, and collaborate with various teams to meet production schedules and quality standards. The Shipping Superintendent will report directly to upper management and is integral to maintaining compliance with industry regulations.

Specific Duties / Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage all shipping operations, including planning, execution, and analysis of shipping processes.
• Supervise shipping personnel, providing training, support, and performance evaluations.
• Ensure adherence to safety standards and regulatory compliance including USDA, OSHA, DOT, and others.
• Oversee inventory management related to shipping supplies and materials.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the shipping department to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.

• Develop and maintain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.
• Monitor and report on key performance indicators related to shipping operations.
• Manage scheduling and staffing to ensure adequate coverage and meet production demands.
• Investigate and resolve shipping discrepancies, ensuring that corrective actions are taken.
• Perform other related duties as required to support overall shipping functions.

Requirements

Education: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field (preferred).

Experience: Minimum 7 years of experience in a shipping/ logistics environment, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role (required).

Skills/Abilities/Attributes:

• In-depth knowledge of shipping and logistics procedures and compliance regulations.
• Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop teams.
• Excellent analytical skills for evaluating shipping processes and identifying areas for improvement.
• Proficient in using warehouse management systems and MS Office Suite.
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift and move packages and materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical tasks required in a shipping environment.
• Willingness to work in environments with varying temperatures.
