About the Role:
Category Managers at Amazon have end to end responsibility of the customer experience and growth of the category they have been assigned to. Amazon strives to present its customers with the widest selection of products at the best prices - The Category manager's role is to bring in the relevant assortment, design targeted promotions, manage partners including sellers/brands and design the long term growth trajectory for the portfolio.
Category managers anticipate customer needs and incorporate them into the functional road map and will drive a major change or enhancement for customer experience influencing category needs based on their knowledge of competitive trends in the marketplace and other macro environment data.
The successful candidate for this high impact role will be a self-starter with a passion for independent, creative problem-solving, have proven data analysis skills, demonstrate great ?voice? and content creation chops (i.e. strong writing skills), show strong ownership and commitment, have proven leadership experience in managing projects, and bring relevant insights in marketing and merchandising.
Eligibility Criteria
Business, buying, or finance background
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proven negotiation skills, influencing abilities
Strong numerical and analytical aptitude
Proven experience leading cross-functional projects
Ability to think and react in a high-energy, fast-paced environment
Good organizational skills including prioritizing, scheduling, time management, and meeting
deadlines
Detail-oriented
Technical aptitude and agility to learn web-based tools
3 to 6 years of relevant experience in an account manager/vendor manager role desired
The ideal candidate will be innovative, team oriented, an effective communicator, have a desire to
participate in change and appreciate a dynamic environment with rapidly changing priorities. We are
seeking someone with demonstrated history of successful project ownership and using customer data to
identify and prioritize opportunities. An understanding of, and passion for, e-commerce is highly
desired.
The position will be based in Bangalore.
Basic Qualifications
5+ years of with Excel experience
5+ years of account management, project or program management or buying experience
Bachelor's degree, or 5+ years of professional or military experience
Knowledge of Microsoft Access or SQL
Experience using data to influence business decisions
Experience driving internal cross-team collaboration
Experience with business analysis and P&L management
Preferred Qualifications
Experience driving direction and alignment with cross-functional teams
