Job Summary The Private Capital Innovation & Legal Technology Lead is responsible for supporting the adoption and implementation of advanced legal technology and artificial intelligence tools within Ropes & Gray?s Private Capital Transactions (PCT) Group, which includes the firm?s Private Equity and Finance practices. This role focuses on driving innovation in transactional workflows, supporting the integration of tools such as Harvey, Hebbia, and ChatGPT, and partnering with attorneys to enhance client delivery, internal efficiency, and knowledge accessibility. The ideal candidate is a seasoned transactional attorney who understands the unique demands of private capital deal work and is passionate about leveraging technology to improve how legal services are delivered. The Lead will also collaborate with the firm?s Knowledge Management (KM) team to support initiatives that enhance the capture and accessibility of institutional know-how, precedent, and market intelligence, ensuring the PCT Group remains at the forefront of innovation and execution excellence. Duties/Responsibilities The Private Capital Innovation & Legal Technology Lead will be expected to: Collaborate with partners and senior attorneys in Private Equity and Finance to identify opportunities to improve legal workflows through technology and AI integration. Assess and implement legal technology solutions?such as Harvey, Hebbia, and ChatGPT?to support transactional work, including diligence review, document drafting, and workflow automation. Lead technology pilot programs, manage rollouts, and coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure successful implementation and adoption. Provide hands-on support to deal teams and business professionals throughout the adoption and integration process, including development of training materials and onboarding programs. Serve as a liaison between the PCT Group and internal innovation, IT, data, and business services teams to ensure alignment and effectiveness of legal tech initiatives. Participate in knowledge management efforts by working with the firm?s KM team to: Contribute practitioner insights for the development and refinement of precedent, templates, and guidance materials. Support the integration of AI tools to improve access to knowledge and improve information retrieval processes. Help identify emerging knowledge needs within the practice and collaborate on content development to address them. Support client-facing innovation opportunities, including co-development of tools, client transparency initiatives, and the delivery of value-added services through technology. Assist with client proposals, RFPs, and business development efforts where innovation and legal technology are differentiators. Stay informed on legal technology trends, private capital market innovations, and evolving client expectations to help maintain the practice?s competitive edge. Required Education, Experience and Skills Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and active bar admission in the relevant jurisdiction(s) in good standing. Minimum of 7 years of transactional legal experience, with a strong focus in M&A, Private Equity or Finance. Strong understanding of private capital deal processes and the legal issues commonly encountered in complex transactions. Practical experience with and familiarity with legal AI tools such as Harvey, Hebbia, and ChatGPT. Demonstrated interest in legal innovation, technology adoption, or legal operations. Excellent organizational, project management, and interpersonal skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively with clients, attorneys, and cross-functional teams. Compensation In accordance with the Pay Transparency Law, in New York, the anticipated pay range for this position is $225,000 - $325,000, which represents our good faith and reasonable estimate of the starting salary range at the time of posting. In addition, this role is eligible for a discretionary, year-end bonus.
