POSITION SUMMARY

A Gage Calibration Technician is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and reliability of all measuring instruments and equipment used in manufacturing or operations, thereby maintaining product quality and compliance with industry standards like AS9100 or ISO/IEC 17025.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Responsibilities may include some or all of the following:

Inspecting and Calibrating: Performing routine inspections, testing, and calibration of a wide range of measuring devices, such as calipers, micrometers, pressure gauges, and electronic testing devices, against established national standards (e.g., those set by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)).

Maintenance and Repair: Performing preventative maintenance and minor repairs on malfunctioning equipment or coordinating external repair services when necessary.

Documentation and Record Keeping: Maintaining detailed and accurate records of all calibration, maintenance, and repair activities using calibration management software (GAGE Trak) to ensure traceability and compliance for audits.

Troubleshooting: Identifying out-of-tolerance conditions and performing root cause analysis to correct discrepancies.

Support and Training: Assisting quality and engineering departments in selecting appropriate new measuring equipment and training production personnel on the proper use and handling of gauges and measuring tools.

Compliance: Ensuring all processes and documentation comply with relevant quality and safety standards and participating in internal and external audits.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent with an associate's degree or other postsecondary training in a technical or scientific field (e.g., metrology, quality control) often preferred.

Three years related experience in a quality assurance, inspection, or similar role involving the use and maintenance of measuring equipment is often required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Strong understanding of gaging principles, measurement science (metrology), geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and industry standards (e.g., ISO/IEC 17025).

Ability to diagnose and resolve equipment issues systematically.

Clear written and verbal skills to write reports and ability to train others.

Proficiency with basic computer programs (Word, Excel) and specialized calibration management software.

Strong attention to detail.

Ability to work effectively with others and be a participative team player.

TYPICAL MENTAL AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is required to walk, stand, and sit for extended periods of time. The team member is required to demonstrate manual dexterity and use hands to operate machinery. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Also expected of the team member is regular attendance, and the ability to work cooperatively and professionally with others.

This position is subject to meeting U.S. export compliance and/or U.S. Government contracting citizenship eligibility requirements.
