Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine (Clinician Educator) Nocturnist

The Division of Hospital and Palliative Medicine (HPM) at the Keck School of Medicine of USC is seeking an exceptional Internal Medicine trained Hospitalist to join our team as a Nocturnist. This is a unique full-time faculty position with an emphasis on overnight inpatient clinical cross coverage and overnight admissions at a major medical center located in the heart of Los Angeles, CA.

Clinical responsibilities for the Nocturnist role within the Keck Hospital Medicine group at Keck Hospital of USC includes overnight supervision and teaching of residents (both Internal Medicine and Family Medicine), staffing of medicine admissions with residents, and direct patient care of co-managed surgical patients. Our hospitalist service provides coverage for both our medicine census and surgical co-management patients, as such, night coverage is required 365 days, but the selected applicant will be expected to staff approx. 150-180 overnight shifts per academic year.

In addition to their inpatient clinical and teaching responsibilities, selected applicants are expected to engage in extracurricular professional development activities such as formal teaching opportunities at the Keck School of Medicine of USC, resident didactic education, medical center committee membership, quality and safety improvement initiatives, and educational conference participation.

This position offers a salary range of $280,000 to $300,000, When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.

Applicants must be board-certified or board-eligible in Internal Medicine and hold a current CA State Medical License and a full schedule, fee paid DEA License with a CA address at the time of credentialing.
