GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Join the Wyoming State Forestry Division as an Assistant District Forester in Evanston, Kemmerer, or Lyman!
The Office of State Lands and Investments, Wyoming State Forestry Division (WSFD), is excited to announce an opportunity for a passionate and dedicated individual to join our team as an Assistant District Forester. This role offers the chance to make a significant impact on the management of all forested lands in Western Wyoming, including State Trust Lands, Private Lands, and land managed by the US Forest Service (USFS) and Bureau of Land Management (BLM).
Position Overview: As an Assistant District Forester, you will work under the direction of the District Forester and be at the forefront of forest and fuels management projects, playing a crucial role in planning, preparing, and administering these initiatives. As the Assistant District Forester, your duties include managing State forest resources, cooperatively providing wildland fire protection and suppression, delivering assistance forestry programs to local governments and private landowners, including writing Stewardship plans, conducting educational natural resource programs, and providing technical forestry assistance to other State and local government agencies and groups. In addition, you will work cooperatively with Federal land management agencies in order to implement Good Neighbor Authority projects. District 4 includes five counties: Lincoln, Sublette, Sweetwater, Teton, and Uinta.
Southwestern Wyoming provides incredible access to outdoor opportunities. With its easily accessible public lands, including the Bridger-Teton National Forest, Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest, Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area, and widespread BLM lands, the region offers something for everyone. In addition, the area is within striking distance of Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks. The Wind River Range, Wyoming Range, and Uinta Mountains provide scenic alpine hiking opportunities. Western Wyoming is also renowned for its diverse wildlife populations and intact ecosystems. Whether you enjoy hunting, fishing, camping, mountain biking, hiking, rock climbing, whitewater rafting, skiing, or snowmobiling, this area has it all.
Come and enjoy all this beautiful area has to offer along with the opportunity to work in the diverse ecosystems located within the District boundary.
