We are seeking a detail-oriented truck dispatcher to join our team. As a truck dispatcher, your main responsibilities will include communicating with customers to understand their shipping needs, planning and adjusting routes for drivers, and scheduling drivers for deliveries and pickups.

To be successful in this role, you should have previous experience in dispatching trucks and be able to work well under pressure. A great truck dispatcher is someone who is organized and ensures that freight is delivered to customers in a timely and efficient manner.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Schedule drivers for deliveries and pickups of freight, shipments, and packages.
  • Communicate with customers to understand their shipping requirements and any special requests.
  • Plan and adjust routes to accommodate changes or unexpected events.
  • Prepare dispatch documents, freight bills, and invoices.
  • Maintain records of dispatched calls, driver routes, and delivery and pickup times.
  • Ensure compliance with transportation regulations and laws.
  • Review drivers' logs and monitor truck maintenance and repair schedules.
  • Record customer shipping schedules and address any complaints.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A degree in transportation or logistics is a plus.
  • 2-3 years of experience as a truck dispatcher in a similar industry.
  • Strong ability to schedule drivers, plan routes, and communicate effectively.
  • Experience in customer service and generating freight bills and invoices.
  • Familiarity with Transportation Management Software (TMS), such as Samsara and Rose Rocket.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Knowledge of transportation regulations and laws.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills.
