What does a Tax Associate do?
A tax associate, also known as a tax specialist, is responsible for preparing tax returns for companies, partnerships, and individuals. Their role is to ensure that their clients comply with state and federal tax regulations.
Job Description
We are seeking a meticulous tax associate to provide tax preparation services and consult with clients. The tax associate will report to a senior tax professional and will be responsible for interacting with clients, gathering and reviewing tax information, preparing tax returns, and conducting tax research projects.
To be successful in this role, the tax associate should have a strong understanding of IRS regulations and be able to minimize tax liabilities for their clients.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensuring clients comply with IRS regulations and meet their state and federal tax obligations
- Analyzing and reducing tax liabilities by implementing tax reduction strategies
- Reviewing financial records, income statements, and expenditures
- Preparing and filing tax returns and work papers for companies, partnerships, and individuals
- Conducting tax research and assisting with tax audits
- Consulting with clients, reviewing their tax information, and addressing any questions or concerns
- Providing advice on employee health care benefits, compensation, and accounting systems
- Maintaining accurate and updated records for clients
Requirements and Qualifications
- A degree in taxation or accounting is required
- CPA certification may be required
- At least 1 year of experience in tax preparation
- Familiarity with tax preparation software and applications
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Good accounting skills
- Strong customer service skills
