Job Description
We are looking for a friendly and skilled pediatric medical assistant to join our team at our pediatric care facility. In this role, you will be responsible for updating medical records and supporting patients and their families. You may also assist healthcare professionals during examinations.
In order to succeed in this role, you should understand the fears and anxieties that children may have when receiving medical care. We are looking for candidates who have experience working in a pediatric care setting and who are organized and efficient.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Creating a welcoming and positive environment for patients at the pediatric facility.
- Gathering patient information and updating health records.
- Scheduling follow-up appointments, procedures, and tests.
- Taking and recording patients' vital signs and administering vaccines.
- Keeping the facility clean and following hygiene standards.
- Explaining tests and procedures to young patients and their families in a comforting manner.
- Assisting patients and their families in finding their way around the facility.
- Stocking and sterilizing examination rooms between patients.
- Helping healthcare professionals examine and treat upset young patients.
- Performing other administrative tasks as needed.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Associate's degree in medical assisting or a similar field from an accredited institution.
- Experience in taking and recording vital signs for children.
- State-approved license to give vaccines and injections.
- Ability to monitor and communicate information about a patient's condition.
- Knowledge of standard healthcare practices and medical terminology.
- Familiarity with electronic health record systems, such as eClinicalWorks and Kareo.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to support and reassure pediatric patients and their families.
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks and follow instructions from healthcare professionals.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
