- Make designs, build, and put in place parts that do what we need them to do.
- Look at problems or things that need to be better and make ideas to fix them.
- Do tests and checks to make our products better and come up with new ideas for them.
- Use CAD (computer-aided design) technology to make plans and designs.
- Make guesses about how much time and money each project will need.
- Write documents that explain how to use our machines.
- Make sure our products follow rules and laws.
- Work with other people on our team, like managers and other engineers.
Requirements and Qualifications
- You should have a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering (a Master's degree is even better).
- You need to be licensed as a professional engineer.
- You should have experience working in mechanical engineering.
- You need to be really good with computers and know how to use CAD, CAM, and programs like Matlab and LabView.
- You need to know how to do simulations and study data from tests.
- You should be able to write documents that explain things well.
- You need to be good at thinking about things carefully, fixing problems, and paying attention to detail.
