We are looking for someone who is good at problem solving to join our team as a mechanical designer. Your main responsibility will be to create technical drawings for different machines and equipment used in manufacturing. Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Meet with clients to understand their needs for a new or existing product or mechanical system
- Visit factories or other locations to take measurements and observe production processes
- Use calculations to plan the machinery before creating technical drawings
- Use computer-aided design (CAD) software, such as AutoCAD, to make drawings that meet the client's requirements
- Create designs that follow company regulations and client standards
- Make prototypes, test them, and analyze the results
- Share drawings with relevant stakeholders and production teams
- Provide support throughout the manufacturing process to ensure the design specifications are met
- Solve any problems that come up during manufacturing and suggest solutions
Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical technology or mechanical engineering, approved by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET)
- Must be a licensed professional engineer (PE), which involves having knowledge of engineering, relevant work experience, and passing exams
- Pass the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam
- Experience using computer-aided design (CAD) software, such as AutoCAD
- At least 2-4 years of work experience
- Experience in a supervisory role
- Able to create products specific to the industry
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong problem-solving skills and good understanding of math
- Flexible and able to adapt to changes
