Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Talking to patients and observing them to figure out what kind of help they need.
  • Diagnosing mental and emotional disorders.
  • Creating a plan for treatment, which could include counseling, medication, or other services.
  • Working with the patient to set goals.
  • Checking in with the patient regularly to see how they are doing and if the plan needs to be changed.
  • Teaching patients ways to cope with tough situations.
  • Keeping track of the patient?s progress and making changes to their treatment as needed.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • A bachelor?s degree in psychology, social work, or counseling.
  • At least 3 years of experience as a counselor.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • The ability to understand and relate to patients.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Experience creating effective treatment plans.
