Tech Lead - Embedded System Validation

Polaris, a global powersports leader, is looking for an experienced Embedded Validation Tech Lead to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate possesses in-depth expertise in Embedded system validation, strong communication, problem solving and project management skills. The lead will provide technical oversite over a wide range of validation projects and mentoring junior engineers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Define and own the Validation strategies for assigned embedded systems projects, ensuring alignment with project goals and strategic objectives.

Provide onsite technical guidance and mentorship to a team of validation engineers.

Support HIL projects. Specifically managing the deployment of HIL load and harness updates to meet new program requirements, developing test automation scripts for HIL & SIL.

Work with Control System Engineer (ECU owner) to plan the validation coverage, develop test cases, and conduct reviews. Work with project leaders to develop an integrated project schedule incorporating the needs of the Validation team while meeting the downstream deliverables.

Manage multiple ECU validation schedules and projects simultaneously.

Review and understand ECU software requirements and the desired functionality of the vehicle system.

Develop Test plans and test cases, conduct reviews, execute, or support execution and review results.

Design test cases and develop test scripts to automate software validation on a HIL system. Setup, execute, and analyze the results of the automated test scripts and report results to stakeholders.

Manage multiple validation schedules and projects simultaneously.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams for issue resolution.

Track project progress, manage risks and report status to senior management.

Required Skills/Experience:

B. Tech/ BE preferably Electrical, Electronics or Software Engineering; would consider candidates with 7+ years of experience in an automotive related software testing role

Understanding of engine, powertrain, chassis, body, automotive infotainment systems architectures and suspension control systems.

Experience with automated test development and object-oriented programming.

Experience with vehicle communication protocols required, CAN/J1939/UDS preferred.

Experience in using and designing/updating real-time hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) test system hardware and software, with NI/dSPACE.

Experience with Git version control system.

Experience with MATLAB/Simulink.

Ability to troubleshoot test hardware and wire harnesses using scopes and multimeters.

Experience with wireless communications (Bluetooth, Bluetooth LE and Wi-Fi)

Experience with Vector Tools (CANalyzer, CANoe) and CAPL.

Experience using a requirements management system (e.g. Jama, Codebeamer, DOORS, TestRail, PTC Integrity/Windchill PLM)

Desired Skills/Experience:

Experience with technical mentorship/leadership.

Strong Python programming and debugging skills.

Experience with Agile development methodology.

Experience with Atlassian tools (ie. Confluence and Jira).

Understanding of connected systems.

Understanding of hardware environmental requirements and tests.

Real-time modeling experience.

Knowledge of ASAM and FMI standards are desired.

Additionally, you may:

Develop additional software tools to support test automation.

Develop real-time plant models to perform closed loop testing.

Participate in HARA/FMEA and software functional safety discussions.

Other duties as required.
