Job Description
Manage and supervise children's learning environment. Plan lessons and activities for children and teach those lessons. Observe children and adapt lessons to their level. Work with co-teacher and volunteers. Participate in professional development activities.
This position is currently eligible for a $2,000 sign-on bonus payable after 90 days of employment.
- Writes, carry out and adapt lesson plans that include individualized plans for each child.
- Encourages children to try new learning activities.
- Carefully observes and documents observations of children upon arrival, and report any unusual circumstances (bruises, inappropriate dress, signs of illness, etc.).
- Reports suspected Abuse/ Neglect to DCF and supervision and submit SCAN (Suspected Child Abuse or Neglect) report to DCF, EC Manager and Health Manager if anything is amiss.
- Under guidance of Early Childhood Manager, assesses each child's development initially and update assessment throughout the school year.
- Reviews the curriculum continually and write weekly lesson plans that incorporate all areas of child development (social/emotional development, physical and cognitive language development).
- Documents daily attendance, children's meal participation, and fluoride administration.
- Inventories and requests needed classroom supplies from the Early Childhood Manager
- Assists with general maintenance and routine center activities.
- Assists with recruiting and health screenings of children.
Requirements
Requires:
- Child Development Associate (CDA),
- 6 months of related experience working with infants and toddlers.
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 30 pounds for various classroom and event needs.
Prefer:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field with 9 hours in ECE.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English)
Benefits
Child Start's Teacher, Early Head Start position starts at $15.42 per hour, depending on education and experience.
