Auria is seeking a highly experienced System Engineer (SE) Level 3 (15+ YOE) to support the Sentinel program (formerly called the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent - GBSD). This position is in Colorado Springs, CO . The candidate has a unique opportunity to join a true development team and contribute to the engineering design of our nation's next-generation Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) system. Auria supports the Air Force's sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for the ICBM Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities, and associated infrastructure. This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees to work nine-hour days, which creates a three-day weekend every other week. This position is 100% on-site at a contractor facility in North Colorado Springs, CO. Remote or hybrid options are not available.

Job Description

As a Senior Level System Engineer (SE) you will be assigned to an Agile Scrum Team supporting the Command & Launch (C&L) segment of the Sentinel program, and the Command and Control (C2) Software Team. You will be responsible for supporting C2 Software Team system engineering activities associated with capability buildup for the Sentinel Flight Test Campaign. You will support a team of engineers to define, develop, decompose, analyze, verify, and validate architecture and requirements. In this role, you will be supporting program leadership and the customer to define and maintain the C&L technical baseline. You will support the program through SE artifact maturity and milestones. You will utilize Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) principles to model various processes, tools, and activities that span the entire program.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Level System Engineer, you will be a pivotal leader for the C2 Software Team. This position requires a leader who is accountable to the team, customer, program management, and executive leadership. Responsibilities will include:

  • Technical Leadership: Lead the management of the C2 technical software requirements baseline, ensuring alignment with program goals and objectives.
  • Mentorship: Guide and mentor C2 Software Team members in agile software requirements development, fostering growth and expertise in critical program efforts.
  • Execution and Collaboration: Drive technical execution in support of major program events, collaborating within and across the program portfolio.
  • Systems Challenges: Focus on resolving high-level systems challenges, ensuring the execution of the overall technical plan within the Integrated Master Schedule.
  • Strategic Initiatives: Support strategic initiatives on tools, processes, and cross-segment technical reviews, driving technical rigor into technical interchange meetings.
  • Perform requirements analysis, review and document source data for requirements, generate requirements verification, and work with suppliers and internal teams to ensure products designed meet requirements.
  • Interface with subject matter experts, analysts, architects, designers, system engineers and specialty engineers to capture Sentinel Node structure and behavior across SysML/UML frameworks.
  • Apply the principles of engineering to design components and systems using applicable standards and specifications.
  • Help develop technical content for presentations to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain design documentation and follow configuration management requirements.
  • Support development of MBSE strategy and MBSE implementation.
  • Support requirement decomposition, derivation, and traceability.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related STEM discipline.
  • 15+ years of experience as a System Engineer on projects of similar scope or complexity (13 years of experience with a Masters Degree; or 10 years of experience with a Doctorate).
  • Must be a US citizen with an active DoD Secret clearance, with an investigation date within scope (6 years). TS/SCI is preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an enhanced security clearance within a reasonable timeframe, as determined by the organization to meet program needs.
  • Experience supporting software development in a C++, Python, Bash, Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), type environment.
  • Experience with Cameo, DOORs, and MBSE.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and a structured process driven software development environment.
  • Experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) tools and processes, such as GitLab, GitHub, Azure, Jenkins, or Nexus.
  • Experience with automated testing techniques including unit and integration testing.
  • Experience with USAF Nuclear Surety (DO-178C, AFMAN 91-119, DO-330, etc.)
  • Experience with Atlassian tools (JIRA/Confluence).
  • Experience with Software Safety (Mil-STD882E)
  • Experience with Agile methodologies.

Salary Range: $160k - $180k

The above salary range represents a general guideline for a Software Engineer with 15+ years of experience and outstanding qualifications. Auria considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position, along with the candidate's experience, education, and skills.
