The Opportunity

The Strategic Supply Chain Manager is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies to optimize supplier relationships, reduce costs, and ensure the availability of critical materials and equipment. This role involves supplier selection, contract negotiations, supplier performance management, and cross-functional collaboration to drive timely New Product Introductions (NPI), operational excellence, and support business growth.

Role and Responsibilities:

Supplier Management & Sourcing Strategy

Develop and implement strategic sourcing plans to ensure reliable and cost-effective supply of goods and services. Work closely with scientists and engineers to understand the sourcing requirements.

Help NPI manager to ensure appropriate and timely release, supplier establishment and inventory systems to support timely New Product Introductions (NPI).

Identify, evaluate, and manage key supplier relationships to drive quality, cost savings, and performance improvements. Implement supplier performance metrics and improvement plans as needed.

Conduct market research to identify new sourcing opportunities and mitigate supply chain risks.

Lead the daily supply chain operation (milestone, change orders, quality metrics, cost control, etc.) and build supplier performance assessments to support future sourcing decisions.

Develop the supply chain and partnership footprint with a long-term, global and strategic view.

Contract Negotiation & Procurement

Negotiate supplier Development and Purchase Agreements. Support Engineering in the drafting of Statement of Work documents for development projects.

Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers to ensure optimal value and service levels.

Review, analyze, and finalize quote packages from suppliers.

Establish long-term agreements with key vendors to support business continuity and cost stability.

Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and quality standards in procurement contracts.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Work closely with engineering, operations, finance, and logistics teams to align supply chain strategies with company goals.

Support new product introductions (NPI) by sourcing necessary components and materials.

Collaborate with manufacturing and production teams to optimize inventory management and lead times.

Collaborate with quality, operations, and engineering teams to conduct supply chain audits, ensuring supplier compliance with quality standards and supply continuity.

Execute materials processes driven by ECOs and Materials Review Board (MRB).

Cost Optimization & Process Improvement

Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure supplier performance, cost reductions, and supply chain efficiency.

Implement best practices for procurement, supplier risk management, and cost-saving initiatives.

Proliferate the effective use of our new Netsuite ERP/MRP and Arena PLM/QMS systems.

Continuously evaluate and improve supply chain processes to improve performance for overall total supply costs, service level and quality.

Other

This full-time role is mostly onsite at our Santa Clara, CA office.

Domestic and international travel is required (up to 10%).

Requirements

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field.

10+ years of experience, including leadership in supply chain strategy, supplier negotiations, and contract management in the Semiconductor Capital Equipment, Aerospace, Defense or Medical equipment industries.

Experienced with strategic sourcing, financial and business opportunity analysis, legal frameworks, and contract negotiation (development, supply, licensing, and service agreements).

Experience working with ERP/MRP/PLM/QMS systems and supply chain analytics tools.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in the semiconductor or optical industry.

Experience with dynamic startup work environments.

Familiarity with global supply chain management and risk mitigation strategies.

Experience with NetSuite ERP/MRP and Arena PLM/QMS.

Any relevant certifications like PMP/CSCP/PE/Lean/Six Sigma etc.

Knowledge of lean manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.

Must possess Technical (Engineering/Science/Technology) and Commercial aptitudes.

Must be detail focused with an ability to drive and influence suppliers and projects with minimal oversight.

Excellent presentation and project management skills.

Proven experience working with cross-functional teams within and outside of supply chain departments, including warehouse, planning, production, sales, R&D, Engineering, and Finance.

Proficiency to manage multiple projects, work cross-functionally, and drive strategic initiatives.

Resourceful in preventing and resolving supply crisis situations, and execution to planned milestones.

Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make data-driven decisions.
