Software Engineer I

Opening its doors over 40 years ago, FSSI is one of the largest woman-owned providers of document services in the western United States, specializing in highly-customizable print and mail, electronic delivery, marketing and compliance solutions. As a vibrant, growing organization, FSSI is looking to expand our team.

We are currently looking for a Software Engineer I to join our Software Development team . This position is responsible for assisting in the development, maintenance and testing of the company's digital solutions while following FSSI's operating procedures and best practices for maximum efficiency and quality that will better serve our customers.

Schedule: This is full-time position. Ideally the position will work hybrid, one day onsite at either of FSSI's facilities in Santa Ana, CA or Coppell, TX.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop internal and web facing applications utilizing front-end technologies and frameworks.
• Assist with the creation and maintenance of middleware and backend components, including services, APIs and database schemas.
• Follow Git best practices for version control and collaboration.
• Participate in code reviews and provide feedback to peers.
• Debug and troubleshoot application issues.
• Collaborate with senior engineers and team members to understand project requirements.
• Write and maintain technical documentation for developed features.
• Adhere to coding standards and best practices.
• Assist in testing and quality assurance processes.
• Implement security measures to protect data and applications.
• Implement logging and monitoring for applications.
• Implement error handling and reporting mechanisms.
• Understand and create data models.
• Other duties as required.

Requirements

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalent is required. Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology or related field preferred.
• 0-2 years' experience in software development required, preferably with experience in web development.
• Competent in web development technologies for frontend (e.g. HTML5, CSS, Angular) and backend programming languages and frameworks.
• Competent in .NET Core technologies.
• Familiarity with web/Windows services, APIs, and microservices.
• Familiarity with SQL and experience with database management and optimization.
• Basic understanding of Git and version control workflows.
• Effective written and oral communication skills.
• Within parameters, must make technical and design decisions.
• Strong multi-tasking and time management skills.
• Work effectively within tight time frames and manage multiple projects.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Regularly required to sit, talk, and hear. Frequently required to use hands and fingers to handle and feel and reach with hands and arms. Occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel and/or crawl. Specific vision required by this job include close, distant, and peripheral vision, and focus adjustments.

Hiring pay range: $33.66 - $48.08 per hour ($70k - $100k when annualized)

Schedule: Full-time, Hybrid/Remote. The ability to work onsite 1 day a week at Santa Ana, CA or Dallas/Coppell, TX facility is preferred.
