Software Development Manager, Amazon Warehousing and Distribution

Amazon has spent years building one of the world's most efficient and optimized supply chains. Amazon warehousing and distribution (AWD) is building on that foundation and continuing to innovate end-to-end supply chain capabilities.

We are looking for Software Development Managers who are seeking opportunities to apply their past experience supporting Amazon's supply chain offerings. We aim to create a highly technical and entrepreneurial culture and you will help us foster that.

Key job responsibilities

Own the roadmap of the charter that enables sellers and enterprises to leverage AWD for their on and off Amazon supply chain use-cases

Document and present strategies to senior management.

Management and execution against project plans and delivery commitments.

Management of resources, hiring, mentoring, enhancing and maintaining a best-of-class product development team.

Work closely with the engineers and product managers to architect and develop the best technical design and approach.

Report on status of development, quality, operations and system performance to leadership.

The ideal candidate will be a leader, quick learner and be able to work independently. He/she should be able to operate in a fast paced environment where time to hit market is super critical. The candidate will need to balance technical leadership and savvy with strong business judgment to make the right decisions.

Basic Qualifications

3+ years of engineering team management experience

7+ years of engineering experience

8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience

Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
