We partner with businesses as well as jobseekers to place individuals into positions efficiently. We are currently in need of a Sheet Metal Mechanic to join our team in Newport News, VA.
Per diem may be available for qualified candidates.
Job Description :
- Cut, bend, and shape sheet metal using shears, brakes, punches, and rollers to create components and structures as per blueprints and job specifications.
- Assemble fabricated sheet metal components into finished products, ensuring proper fit, alignment, and functionality according to assembly drawings and instructions.
- Install and repair foundations, ventilation, bulkheads, shipboard furniture, and other sheet metal fabrication work.
- Inspect fabricated parts and assemblies for defects, dimensional accuracy, and conformance to quality standards, adjusting as necessary to meet specifications.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks on fabrication equipment, such as cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn or damaged components, to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries in the workplace, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment and following safe work practices.
Requirements
Job Requirements:
- 3 years of experience performing shipboard, aircraft, industrial, or commercial installations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to read blueprints, technical manuals, and other engineering drawings.
- Capacity to lift and manipulate heavy sheet metal materials, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks in a fast-paced fabrication environment.
- Able to comprehend fractional and decimal dimensions with the use of a ruler.
- Pass a hair follicle test and background check.
