Job Description

Senior Counsel
PBF Energy Inc. (NYSE:PBF) is one of the largest independent refiners in North America, operating through its subsidiaries, oil refineries and related facilities. We are seeking a talented Senior Counsel to join our team as a pivotal member that would play a key role here at PBF Energy. This role would be located onsite at our Company headquarters in Parsippany, NJ.

The Senior Counsel will support procurement, information technology, commercial services and regulatory activities of PBF, among other responsibilities. Under general direction, he or she will resolve highly complex issues by identifying legal solutions and recommending a course of action. He or she will represent the organization to vendors, contractors, licensors, consultants, customers, suppliers, competitors and government agencies. The role requires experience in a broad range of legal areas and will include advising business teams on legal risks, strategies and structures for a variety of procurement, information technology and commercial energy transactions. In addition, responsibilities will include reviewing and negotiating transportation agreements, leases, terminal storage agreements and non-disclosure agreements.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Review and negotiate various procurement-related contracts, including vendor, contractor, engineering, supplier and service-level agreements
Provide legal advice to procurement teams on a wide range of procurement issues, including contract interpretation, risk management, compliance and contract disputes
Review and negotiate information technology-related contracts, including software licenses, subscription agreements, master service agreements, consulting agreements and statements of work
Structure, draft, negotiate and facilitate commercial transactions around a variety of commercial energy activities related to petroleum products, natural gas, environmental attributes and other commodity and energy management services, including transportation agreements, leases, terminal storage agreements and non-disclosure agreements
Effectively manage outside counsel in a cost-effective manner, whether transactional, litigation or compliance in nature
Develop a strong rapport and working relationship with business teams to help drive the delivery of effective and high-quality legal services which are appropriately linked to relevant business needs
Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful candidate should have an inquisitive nature with a specific interest in energy and regulatory law, and demonstrate the following skills and abilities:

J.D. Degree required
Licensed to practice law in a relevant jurisdiction and able to register as Authorized In-House Counsel in the principal work location
8+ years of progressively responsible corporate/commercial legal experience, preferably including experience with both a multi-national law firm and an established corporate law department
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
Ability to work under pressure, manage time effectively and prioritize assignments
Ability to multi-task and demonstrate a sense of urgency
Practical, solution-oriented problem-solving approach
Ability to interact confidently and respectfully with peers as well as others through every level of the organization
Ability to maintain the highest degree of ethics and to preserve absolute confidentiality
Must be willing and able to travel, as business need dictates

The salary range for this position is $121,160.47- $200,749.41. The compensation range listed in this posting is in compliance with applicable state law. Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate?s work experience, education/training, job-related skills and internal peer equity will be considered in determining the selected candidate?s compensation. Salaries at the time of hire are typically in the lower to middle portion of the above range in order to provide the opportunity to reflect future performance-based increases. In addition to salary, PBF offers a comprehensive benefits package which includes bonus eligibility, health care, retirement benefits, and paid time off.
