Research Project Manager

We're looking for a Research Project Manager to join our Research Operations team in San Diego, with a dedicated focus on hardware research programs. In this role, you'll lead the execution of human research studies that power Oura's next-generation sensor development and scientific innovation. You'll own the end-to-end processfrom protocol design through data deliveryworking side by side with our hardware engineers, scientists, and external partners.

What you will do:

• Lead 25 concurrent studies, managing protocol development, data collection, quality control, vendor logistics, and regulatory workflows.
• Partner with hardware and science teams to design studies that validate sensors and expand sensing capabilities.
• Coordinate testing schedules, hands-on data collection, and site visits using Oura and reference devices.
• Build and refine documentation to streamline cross-functional workflows and improve study reproducibility.
• Troubleshoot technical issues across firmware, software, and study operations.
• Communicate proactively with internal teams and external collaborators to ensure timelines and data quality goals are met.
• Drive continuous improvement in tools, processes, and documentation to raise the bar on research execution.

This is a hybrid role based out of our San Diego office.

Requirements

We would love to have you on our team if you:

• Have 1+ year of hands-on experience running human research studies (IRB, consent, data integrity, etc.)
• Have delivered high-quality datasets with clear documentation and a strong grasp of research best practices (GCP or equivalent)
• Have experience with SQL, R, Python, or another programming language
• Thrive in cross-functional environmentsespecially at the intersection of hardware, software, and science
• Are comfortable with ambiguity, fast-paced iteration, and hands-on problem-solving

• Are flexible with scheduling (e.g. site visits and calls with the teams in Finland may occasionally fall outside normal business hours)

• Are based in San Diego and available for regular on-site data collection and collaboration at least three days per week

We also appreciate if you have familiarity with the following:

• Regulated clinical trials
• Wearable devices or remote patient monitoring
• Multi-modal and sensor data

Oura takes a market-based approach to pay, which may vary depending on your location. US locations are categorized into tiers based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. While most offers will be closer to the starting range, successful candidates' pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, internal peer equity, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.

• San Diego area $80,000- $100,000
