Position Overview:

The Quality Control Manager will oversee, plan, coordinate and implement project quality control activities and functions of a project in accordance with company quality control plan and project contract requirements; ensure compliance of project work with project contract documents; record and document quality activities and maintain quality records. Projects may vary between private and public owners, as well as a variety of delivery methods such as lump sum, negotiated and unit price work. The projects often include management of self-perform work, as well as managing subcontracted work. This position is a managerial position responsible for managing projects and leading a team.

Essential Duties and Key Responsibilities:

  • Schedule and coordinate inspection and testing for work activities with Project Managers, Superintendents and Project Engineers.
  • Manage and oversee quality activities, such as inspection and testing, performed by Independent Testing Agencies.
  • Identify non-conformance work and inform Project Manager, Superintendent and Project Engineer.
  • Identify work items for punch list on completed work.
  • Perform receiving inspection of materials to be used in scheduled work to ensure compliance with contract specifications.
  • Work with suppliers, fabricators and manufactures to ensure quality is being performed in accordance with contract specifications.
  • Monitor subcontractor work to ensure compliance with company quality, standards, procedures and contract specifications.
  • Develop understanding/working knowledge of company quality control program and applicable industry standards.
  • Participate with QA Manager with internal/external quality audits; provide input for improving quality control procedures, developing new procedures and quality standards.
  • Implement company quality control program on projects as required.
  • Work with subcontractors to develop quality control check sheets and documentation.
  • Assist QA with review subcontractor quality control plans.
  • Inform staff and subcontractors on company quality requirements and specific project contract quality requirements.
  • Research project contract documentation to accurately document non-conformance work.
  • Document and record non-conformances and corrective action.
  • Assist Superintendent, Project Managers and Project Engineers in resolving non-conformance issues.
  • Procure Independent Testing Agencies and Engineering Consulting Companies to perform testing and inspection work and/or investigative work for quality related issues.
  • Develop understanding of project contract documentation, requirements and specifications.
  • Prepare applicable material submittal when required.
  • Create and document punch list to track outstanding work that needs to be completed prior to substantial completion.
  • Review Invoices for Quality Work performed by Independent Testing Agencies and Engineering Consulting Companies and recommend payment to Project Manager.
  • Review and become familiar with project contract documents.
  • Review all quality documents from Independent Testing Agencies, Subcontractors, and Engineering Consulting Companies for accuracy and statement of conformance.
  • Maintain quality records, organization of quality department and filing system.
  • Attend weekly owner progress meetings when required.
  • Attend weekly subcontractor meetings when required.
  • Attend pre-activity meetings prior to start of work.

Requirements

  • 4-year college degree.
  • Minimum 5 years of related quality assurance/quality control, inspection or operations experience in construction industry.
  • Good working knowledge of industry Building standards, Bridge and Highway standards and federal/local government agencies quality control requirements and specifications.
  • QA/QC certifications, inspection certifications and/or related certifications are desirable but not required.

Salary Range:

$90,000 - $125,000

F.H. Paschen reserves the right to offer the selected candidate or applicant an hourly rate or salary at an appropriate level to be set and determined by the employer that is commensurate with the applicant's qualifications, experience, education, skill training, certifications, or seniority.
