Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

The Iowa Primary Care Association is actively recruiting a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to provide care at a vibrant community health center (FQHC) in Keokuk, IA in their new beautiful building !

About the Health Center:

Join the dynamic and multidisciplinary behavioral health team at an outpatient community health center, where they provide an integrated care model that includes dental, medical, behavioral health, pharmacy, lab, all under one roof!

Role Details:

• Clinic Hours: M/T/W/F: 7AM - 5 PM; Thurs: 7am - 9 PM; no weekends (schedule within these hours will be discussed)
• No call
• Full time position: 36 patient contact hours, 4 admin hours
• Sees on average 7 patients per day
• Appointment types: 60 min for new patient, 30 min for follow up
• Provider team includes: part time psychiatrist, 2 LMHC, 1 Substance Abuse Counselor.
• In Iowa, Nurse Practitioners can practice independently with full practice authority.
• EHR: Epic

Essential Duties:

• Conducts mental health histories and assessments.
• Formulates mental health treatment plan and manages acute and chronic mental health needs within an integrated model of care.
• Examines patients to determine general physical condition, following standard medical procedures.
• Organizes data concerning patient's family, medical history, and onset of symptoms obtained from clients, relatives, and other sources.
• Orders laboratory and other special diagnostic tests and evaluates data obtained.
• Administers psychotropic medications and therapeutic agents, necessary to implement a treatment, disease prevention, or rehabilitation regimen ordered by and within the scope of licensure.
• Participates in periodic clinic staff conferences to present case histories; confer with internal external members of therapy team to develop comprehensive evaluations or plan pertinent therapy programs to provide maximum benefits for each patient.
• Conducts care of psychiatric/mental health emergencies and initiates arrangements for continuing care or referral to appropriate facility.
• Complete clinical schedule at applicable sites while also being available for urgent assessment/treatment by utilizing health center's telepsych equipment for all sites.

Requirements

• Graduation from accredited master's level Nurse Practitioner program with specialty in psychiatry
• Licensed to practice as Nurse Practitioner in Iowa
• BLS certification
