Holland & Knight LLP seeks a Sr. Associate, Private Wealth Services Group in the Boston, MA office.
Job Duties: Focus on an array of business, succession, estate planning, tax and business transaction matters, including those governed by New York law. Responsible for succession and tax planning for individuals and businesses, including corporate, limited liability company and estate planning for closely-held and family-owned businesses, some of which are governed by New York law; drafting documents, meeting with clients, conducting research and preparing memoranda and preparing tax returns for clients, including under New York law, advising clients with tax and estate planning matters under New York law; all under the supervision of Partners and more senior lawyers in the Private Wealth Services Group.
This position will be filled in Boston, MA. In accordance with applicable Pay Transparency Laws, the pay range for this position in this location is $390,000.00/yr. We are not accepting agency submissions at this time.
Requirements: Juris Doctor in Law; Must have 3 years' experience as an Associate, Private Wealth Services Group or related occupation providing U.S. tax advice related to domestic and cross-border estate planning, succession planning, and philanthropic planning. Must be licensed to practice law in the state of New York and Connecticut. Remote work permitted up to 2 days per week. Must have three years' experience with the following:
- Formulating estate and gift plans to minimize U.S. income, gift, estate, and generation-skipping taxes.
- Drafting various types of trusts, including but not limited to grantor, non-grantor, directed, dynasty, irrevocable life insurance, spousal lifetime access, and qualified domestic trusts, in addition to wills, powers of attorney, and health care documents.
- Advising clients on the execution and administration of estate plans, including the utilization of Qualified Small Business Stock exemptions and sales to grantor trusts.
- Analyzing tax issues related to U.S. citizens with assets abroad, U.S. citizens considering expatriation, and foreign citizens with assets in the U.S., and preparing documents related to same, including foreign grantor trusts and entity formation for asset-protection purposes.
- Administering trusts, including preparing trustee succession documents and trust amendments, distribution and termination agreements, release and indemnification agreements, and reviewing fiduciary tax returns.
- Must have experience with the Administration and taxation of cryptocurrency in trusts.
