PR Account Director

This role requires a seasoned PR professional in beauty, health and wellness who excels at media strategy, relationship building, client retention, and team leadership.

We're looking for an Account Director with 8+ years of experience at an agency to lead some of the top beauty, fitness, health/wellness, and parenting brands nationwide. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and growing high-profile client accounts, driving strategic PR initiatives, leading a high-performing team, and playing a key role in new business development.

This role requires a seasoned PR professional who excels at media strategy, relationship building, client retention, and team leadership. The right candidate will have deep industry knowledge, strong media relationships, a results-oriented mindset, and the ability to develop and execute cutting-edge PR campaigns. Our Account Director positions will report directly to our Director of Public Relations.

What You'll Be Doing // Key Responsibilities

Client & Account Leadership

• Oversee a portfolio of high-profile client accounts, ensuring outstanding service, strategy, and measurable results.
• Develop, present, and execute integrated PR and marketing strategies tailored to each client's business objectives.
• Serve as the senior point of contact for clients, providing strategic counsel and proactive recommendations.
• Anticipate client needs, address challenges, and ensure high client retention through exceptional service and measurable impact.
• Monitor campaign performance and industry trends, refining strategies as needed to hit key KPIs and milestones.

Media Relations & Thought Leadership

• Oversee the creation of high-impact press materials, ensuring compelling storytelling that aligns with media trends.
• Develop and leverage deep relationships with top-tier media, influencers, and industry leaders to secure consistent and strategic media placements.
• Identify news cycle opportunities and lead rapid response pitching to capitalize on breaking industry trends.
• Act as a senior spokesperson when needed, providing media training and guidance to clients.
• Collaborate with the team to elevate media outreach efforts, ensuring consistency in PR messaging and execution.

Team Management & Development

• Lead and mentor a team of Senior Publicists, Account Managers, Junior Account Managers, Account Coordinator, and interns.
• Provide guidance and oversight into PR strategy, media relations, and client communications.
• Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture that prioritizes results, creativity, and professional development.
• Conduct regular performance evaluations, ensuring continuous growth and accountability within the team.
• Work closely with executive leadership to align account strategies with company goals.

Business Development & Agency Growth

• Identify and pursue new business opportunities, including pitching and securing new clients.
• Contribute to the agency's growth strategy, helping to refine clover PR's service offerings and market positioning.
• Develop compelling new business presentations and proposals, demonstrating PR strategies that drive results.
• Represent clover PR at industry events, conferences, and networking functions to enhance visibility and expand the client portfolio.

Requirements

Who You Are // Qualifications

Essential Skills & Experience

• 8+ years of experience in public relations, agency leadership, or strategic communications, with a strong agency background.
• Proven track record of leading successful PR campaigns and securing top-tier media coverage across digital, print, and broadcast platforms.
• Strong storytelling and media pitching abilities, with expertise in newsjacking and rapid-response PR.
• Exceptional client service skills with experience managing high-profile accounts and C-suite relationships.
• Deep industry knowledge and an extensive network of media and influencer contacts in the beauty, wellness, health, fitness, and lifestyle sectors.
• A strategic thinker with exceptional leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Strong understanding of SEO, content marketing, and social media integration as part of a PR strategy.
• Excellent writing, copy editing, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly.
• Experience in crisis communications and media training is a plus.
• Highly proficient in Google Drive, Cision, MuckRack, PR Newswire, Asana, and media monitoring tools.
• Strong business development acumen, with experience in pitching and securing new clients.
