The Opportunity

This position works out of our St Paul MN location in the ProdTech Medical Device Division.

Core Job responsibilities

As a Platform Engineer in Product Technology you will work closely with the Dev Ops team and other teams inside Product Technology to automate tasks involved in delivering medical device software to the cloud.

This will include building REST services, jobs, workflows, and applications to enable Production Technologies business partner organizations to work faster and more accurately within the controls required by Abbott.

After some growth we have chosen to do most of our work in C#.

So expertise and experience in C# and dotnet core is a requirement for this role.

In Product Technology we are attempting to automate away manual tasks - as such we are on a journey to discover how to best serve our Business Partners with easy to use self service tools that eliminate complex manual workflows and help everyone make their deadlines.

As a platform engineer you will

Collaborate with users in various departments to identify end-user requirements and specifications

Design algorithms and flowcharts to create new software programs and systems

Producing efficient and elegant code based on requirements

Test and Deploy programs and applications

Troubleshoot, Debug, Maintain and Improve existing software

Complete and Assess user feedback to improve software impact and performance

Observe user feedback to recommend improvements to existing software products

Develop technical documentation to guide future software development projects

Partner with other Engineers in resolving problems with software products or company software systems.

Apply enterprise security policies and standards when performing all operational duties.

Required Qualifications

Working knowledge of tools such as Git, GitHub, GitLab, Artifactory, and other similar tooling

3+ years of software development experience

Experience with C#/ .NET Core

Familiarity with system and security design principles of medical device back end software

Working knowledge of Waterfall, Agile, and primarily DevOps development methodologies

Working knowledge of tools such as Git, Azure DevOps, Artifactory, and other similar tooling

Helm Experience

Understanding of event driven architecture

Docker/OCI experience (writing images)

Experience with AI assisted development

3+ years of Azure experience

Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance

Preferred Qualifications

3+ years of DevOps experience

Experience with Terraform in Azure

Terraform Module experience

B.S. in Computer Science or similar engineering discipline

Experience building and deploying services to Kubernetes

Azure SDK/API experience (we use it a ton)

Familiarity with basic design pattens in Dotnet (Factory, Strategy etc)

Nice plus: groovy

The base pay for this position is $75,300.00 - $150,700.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
