Patent Agent (Electro-Mechanical Engineering) Position Summary: We are seeking a Patent Agent with a background in electro-mechanical engineering to join our growing Intellectual Property team. Key Responsibilities: Prepare and prosecute U.S. and foreign patent applications Conduct prior art searches and provide technical analysis Work closely with inventors and attorneys to evaluate patentability Communicate effectively with clients and patent offices Requirements: Familiarity with U.S. patent law and filing procedures Bachelor of Science in electrical or mechanical engineering Handle export-controlled information which requires being a U.S. citizen or permanent U.S. residency Preferred Qualifications: Minimum of 2 years of experience in patent preparation and prosecution Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office Master?s degree or Ph.D. in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a closely related field Will also consider candidates with a Bachelor's degree and significant industry experience in electro-mechanical systems Compensation: Competitive salary and benefits package, commensurate with experience About the Firm: Barnes & Thornburg LLP is an AmLaw 100 firm with 23 offices.
