The salary range for this position is $146,700-$442,800. Position description

The UCLA Division of Nephrology, in the Department of Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA invites invites applicants for a position as the Medical Director of the prestigious UCLA Kidney Transplant Program.

The Medical Director will lead a team of highly experienced transplant physicians and nurse practitioners, driving strategic vision, ensuring clinical excellence, and overseeing the seamless operation of our large transplant program. The UCLA Kidney Transplant Program is one of the most prominent in the U.S., performing more than 400 transplants per year. Working collaboratively with the director of the Kidney Transplant Immunobiology Program and Transplant Administration, the Medical Director will oversee medical and patient care operations provided by our interdisciplinary team, which includes nephrologists, surgeons, nurses, transplant coordinators, social workers, and dietitians; direct patient management protocols; and oversee the living kidney donor program.

In addition, the Medical Director will provide administrative oversight for the program, including interfacing with UCLA Health and the Department of Medicine in the organization of the transplant program, directing quality assurance efforts, and ensuring compliance with regulations and standards set by oversight bodies such as the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN) and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

The ideal candidate will be a nationally recognized academic physician with a distinguished record of accomplishment in clinical care and teaching, along with demonstrated leadership skills and a track record of collaboration. All candidates must hold an M.D. (or equivalent), be board-certified or board-eligible in nephrology, have completed an AST/ASN-accredited transplant nephrology fellowship, and be eligible for licensure in California. The successful candidate will receive an academic appointment commensurate with qualifications.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications

An M.D. or equivalent is required.

Additional qualifications

Must be board-certified in Internal Medicine.

Must be board-eligible and board-certified in Nephrology.

Must have a California medical license.

Must have completed an AST/ASN accredited transplant nephrology fellowship or have equivalent experience by years of practice as a transplant nephrologist in a sizeable transplant program.
