POSITION SUMMARY:
As Intercept continues to build its position as the leader in rare and serious liver disease, we are seeking a Medical Director, Medical Affairs. The Medical Director is responsible for shaping and executing the company's medical strategy through congress-related activities. This individual will lead the planning and execution of key medical congress initiatives, ensuring alignment with the scientific narrative and corporate objectives.
The Medical Director will also facilitate internal stakeholder engagement, oversee sponsorship requests, and explore novel congress opportunities to enhance the organization's presence in the therapeutic landscape.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinate, plan, and execute all congress-related tactics, ensuring alignment with medical affairs strategy
Oversee the development of scientific content and engagement plans to support congress activities
Lead pre-congress training sessions to prepare internal teams, including MSLs and other key stakeholders
Provide timely and strategic updates on major congresses to internal teams, ensuring seamless communication and alignment
Ensure all congress activities reflect the company's scientific narrative and reinforce key medical and scientific messages
Collaborate cross-functionally with medical, commercial, and regulatory teams to maximize impact at congresses
Oversee the review and management of sponsorship requests for medical meetings and conferences, ensuring strategic alignment with company objectives
Provide recommendations on key sponsorship and partnership opportunities to optimize scientific engagement
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
Advanced medical sciences degree (MD, DO, PharmD, PhD) required with a minimum of 3 years of progressive industry experience in Medical Affairs, including roles with strategic accountability
oMD or DO degree preferred
oMPH degree in chronic disease epidemiology/biostatistics in addition to any of the above degrees will be a strong plus
Prior experience in hepatology, gastroenterology, immunology preferred
Experience developing and executing research (interventional or observational) studies required
Demonstrated track record of publishing in peer-reviewed scientific journals required
Experience leading congress strategy, scientific engagement, and stakeholder collaboration
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
Must be able to work onsite in the Morristown, NJ office on a hybrid basis
Ability to travel up to 35% required, which may include overnight and/or weekend travel
Strong understanding of drug development and commercialization process
Must possess a thorough understanding of the FDA, OIG, HIPAA and other ethical guidelines relevant to the pharmaceutical industry
Strong knowledge of industry regulations, compliance, and best practices in medical congress execution
Ability to navigate complex cross-functional environments and drive alignment across teams
Must maintain comprehensive proficiencies with Microsoft Project, Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and associated applications
Ability to travel up to 30% required, which may include overnight and/or weekend travel
Strong verbal and written communications skills

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
The anticipated salary range for this position is $230,000 to $270,000. This represents the anticipated low and high end of the salary range for this position. Actual salaries may vary based on various factors including, but not limited to, experience, skillset, and performance.
