We are looking for a talented Manufacturing Engineer - Senior to join our team specializing in Manufacturing for Cummins Inc. in Asheville, NC.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

Ensuring Safety and Compliance : By leading projects to implement manufacturing processes, you'll ensure that safety requirements, manufacturing goals, business goals, and product specifications are consistently met.

Driving Continuous Improvement : Utilizing continuous improvement tools and adhering to Cummins standards, you'll develop and refine manufacturing standards and working methods, fostering a culture of ongoing enhancement.

Influencing Key Stakeholders : Through effective communication and leadership, you'll influence external stakeholders, business leaders, and functional members, ensuring alignment and support for manufacturing initiatives.

5.

Collaborating on Projects : Working with both internal and external resources, you'll contribute to specific project assignments, leveraging diverse expertise to achieve project goals.

6.

Applying Advanced Knowledge : Your advanced understanding of manufacturing principles and practices will be crucial in applying these concepts to Cummins? operations, driving innovation and excellence.

Building and Maintaining Relationships : By maintaining strong relationships and coaching key stakeholders, you'll foster collaboration and ensure that everyone is aligned with the manufacturing objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

1.

Proficiency in Drawing Interpretation : Ability to integrate product design and manufacturing equipment engineering drawings to develop optimal manufacturing processes that meet product specifications.

2.

Expertise in Manufacturing Analysis Led Design : Competence in using digital tools to model and simulate manufacturing processes, equipment, and performance, enabling data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement.

3.

Knowledge of Ergonomics Process and Workplace Design : Skill in designing or adapting processes and workstations by applying ergonomic controls according to Cummins ergonomic design guidelines, reducing risk and ensuring ergonomic work environments.

4.

Workstation Design Skills : Capability to design operator workstations that are safe, healthy, and ergonomic, while balancing cost, quality, and delivery to enhance work efficiency.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience

College, university, or degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) or related field, or equivalent experience required.

This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience:

Intermediate level of relevant work experience required.

Additional Responsibilities

Establishes project objectives by analyzing proposals and collaborating with management.

Possesses a high level of technical aptitude to provide technical project insight, advice and support.

Ability to take on a wide variety of job functions within a project including hands-on technical support.

Prepares progress reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.

Accountable for delivering assigned project objectives, troubleshooting process issues and implementing corrective actions.

Methodically analyze machining and assembly processes and drive cost and investment estimations, stablish and ensure consistent and efficient flow to optimize manpower to meet quality targets in a high-volume production environment.

Serves as primary liaison with cross-function Product Development Teams providing Design for Manufacturing (DFM) input for new products and acting as the primary interface and transition of new product to a full production environment.

Work with the product development teams and management to provide input for make vs. buy decisions.

Design and implement efficient processes using lean manufacturing principles, to enable single piece flow in a pull system philosophy for existing products or new product launches as appropriate.

Justify and purchase capital equipment/tooling to improve or implement manufacturing processes.

Establish and document production standards and controls, conduct initial time studies and establish labor standards for new and existing products and process as necessary.

Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

Establish facility layout that is consistent with kanban, efficient material flow and pull system techniques.

Mechanical Engineering education is preferred.

5 or more years in Manufacturing Engineering is preferred.

Experience in technical areas such as assembly technology, CNC machining, complex automation with PLC background, welding, special machines, simple to complex tooling systems, hydraulics, pneumatics or robotics, etc. is required.

This role will require 30% travel
