Litigation Counsel

If you have litigation experience and are looking to grow your career as an attorney, this may be the role for you! ExamWorks is seeking a Litigation Counsel to join the team.

This will be 100% remote with potential occassional travel Monday - Friday standard business hours.

The Litigation Counsel is responsible for drafting and preparing subpoena responses, coordinating and overseeing outside counsel?s work on subpoena-related motion practice, assisting with requests from customers/vendors related to litigation, conducting training of business managers on subpoena policy/procedure, updating existing subpoena policy/procedure as needed, and conducting legal research. The Litigation Counsel will also assist with other projects and duties as assigned by the Senior Counsel, Litigation and Privacy. The ideal candidate will be highly autonomous, organized, and able to successfully manage a workload involving short deadlines

Responsibilities

• Draft and prepare subpoena responses
• Assist and advise business units regarding requests from customers/vendors
• Coordinate and oversee outside counsel?s work on subpoena-related motion practice
• Collaborate with and assist other members of the Company?s legal team and the Company?s finance, human resource, compliance, operations, and internal audit teams
• Conduct training of business managers on subpoena policy/procedure
• Conduct legal research
• Update and improve existing subpoena policy/procedure as needed
• Manage and/or complete a wide variety of other miscellaneous legal projects as the business may otherwise require
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Counsel, Litigation and Privacy
• Occasional travel may be required

• J.D. degree from an ABA accredited law school required
• Active bar membership in at least one U.S. state or Washington, D.C required
• 2 years of litigation experience required
• Experience reviewing and responding to subpoenas required
• Insurance defense litigation experience preferred
• Must possess a strong work ethic with the ability to prioritize and follow through on numerous projects at once.
• Must be able to successfully and effectively manage a workload involving short deadlines.
• Must demonstrate effective communication skills by conveying necessary information accurately, listening effectively, and asking questions where clarification is needed.
• Must be able to work independently, prioritize work activities and use time efficiently with minimal administrative support.
• Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
• Must be collaborative and team-oriented
• Ability to follow all company policies and procedures in effect at time of hire and as they may change or be added from time to time.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret language common to complex legal contracts and documents.
• Ability to effectively present information one-on-one, in small groups, members of management, and/or clients or vendors of the company.
• Ability to write clearly and informatively and edit own work for appropriate spelling and grammar.
