Under the direction of the EVP of Technology Operations, the Lead DevOps Engineer will play a critical, hands-on role in modernizing TrustCommerce's developer and deployment ecosystem. This position is both strategic and technical, with a focus on implementing modern tooling and processes across source control, project and knowledge management, and CI/CD infrastructure.
The new hire will collaborate closely with other senior technical leaders to shape the vision for our DevOps transformation. This role is ideal for someone who has successfully implemented modern DevOps infrastructure and CI/CD workflows at scale and is eager to serve as a hands-on expert and strategic partner. The successful candidate will play a key role in turning high-level concepts into reality by guiding implementation, sharing best practices, and helping the team navigate the practical challenges of modernizing a legacy environment.

Requirements
Partner with technical leadership to define and refine the roadmap for DevOps transformation and tooling adoption.
Comfortable working in Linux environments, ideally with experience using Debian-based systems for development and automation tasks.
Lead the implementation and integration of Git and GitLab for source control, Jira and Confluence for project and documentation management, and Jira Service Management for support operations.
Design and deploy robust CI/CD pipelines that support automated testing, code quality checks, and secure deployment processes.
Support the migration from legacy systems to modern platforms, ensuring performance, scalability, and security.
Act as a subject matter expert in DevOps best practices, offering guidance and mentorship to team members across engineering.
Develop and maintain clear, detailed documentation of system architecture, operational procedures, and tool usage.
Proactively monitor and optimize system reliability, developer experience, and deployment workflows.
RequirementsProven experience implementing DevOps infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines in production environments.
Strong hands-on expertise with Git, GitLab CI/CD, Jira, Confluence, and Jira Service Management.
Demonstrated success migrating from legacy developer ecosystems to modern DevOps platforms.
Deep understanding of DevOps principles, including infrastructure as code, automated testing, secure development, and continuous delivery.
Proficiency with scripting and automation tools (e.g., Python, Bash, Puppet, Terraform, Ansible).
Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to influence and lead through knowledge sharing and partnership.
Preferred QualificationsExperience supporting or leading DevOps modernization projects in highly regulated industries (e.g., FinTech, healthcare).
Strong technical writing skills for process documentation, onboarding, and knowledge sharing.
Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS, and containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.

This role offers a base salary range between $150-$180K + Bonus potential.
The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high end of the SphereCommerce salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and be based on various factors, such as candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiencies for the role. The base salary is one component of SphereCommerce's total compensation package for employees.
