Job Description
Experience: 1 to 7 years in labor and employment law with a focus on employer representation.
Qualifications:
- Experience with counseling public, private, union, and/or non-union clients in matters involving a wide range of labor and employment laws.
- Understanding of federal and state labor and employment laws, wage and hour law, workers compensation and disability law, employee benefits law, and criminal law.
Responsibilities:
- Counsel clients on hiring, employee evaluation and discipline, overtime, minimum wage, wage deduction, misclassification, off-the-clock, and independent contractor-related wage and hour issues.
- Assist with labor and employment-related litigation, in both the courts as well as in administrative proceedings.
- Conduct internal investigations into employee complaints, misconduct and regulatory compliance issues.
- Draft, review and update employment-related documents, such as handbooks, policies, employment agreements, severance agreements, and non-compete/non-solicitation agreements.
- Perform legal research on labor and employment laws, monitor legal developments and changes in labor and employment laws and communicate implications internally and externally.
Requirements:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- Strong academic credentials.
- Licensed to practice law in New York State
- Excellent technical, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other practice areas to provide comprehensive solutions to clients.
Salary: $127,500 to $172,000

At this time, the good faith estimate of the annual salary range for this position, if the successful applicant is based in Buffalo, Rochester, or Albany, is $127,500 to $172,000. Where a successful applicant is slotted within this range will vary based on legitimate criteria, such as experience and skill level. This range is not applicable to other locations.
