HIM Clerk

Westborough Behavioral Healthcare Hospital (WBHH) provides psychiatric stabilization and dual diagnosis treatments for Children, Adolescents and Adult populations in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Our goal is to ensure patients and their loved ones feel comfortable and are well informed regarding treatment options.

We are conveniently located in Westborough near the intersection of Route 495 and Route 9.

Primary responsibilities include:

The HIM Clerk supports the medical records department through a variety of clerical, technical and related support services.

• Prints List of Admissions/Discharges - Prepare folders from Admissions list
• Pick up and break down charts from unit
• Assemble charts in appropriate order, and analyze for deficiencies
• File reports, loose materials and charts accurately as required
• Enters deficiencies into tracking system and monitors for possible delinquencies
• Assists physicians and staff with medical records questions, problems and requests
• Prints reports from physician documentation system(s) and file in unit/discharged charts
• Identify MD reports not completed in a timely basis and report to Director/Administration &/or MD
• Review charts for MD notes, evals, disch. Summarizes and log on a billing sheet daily
• Maintains confidentiality of current and former patient information
• Answers department phone promptly and is polite and helpful. Routes messages as necessary; refers person to appropriate staff member or department
• Delivery of records to the courts.
• Completes bi-weekly in house physician billing for long-term inpatients
• Box charts for storage at off-site location - including identification, labeling and logging
• Performs related duties, as requested

Requirements

• High School degree or equivalent preferred.
• Six-month clerical experience preferred to include: typing, filing and record-keeping skills, work organization, prioritization, and time management skills. Familiar with general medical
