High School English Tutor

Toolkit Tutors is a provider of in-school and after-school tutoring services, committed to enhancing student learning through a blend of traditional high-impact tutoring and study skills training.

Pay: $28-30/hr

We are seeking a dedicated Bilingual Spanish - High School English Tutor to join our team to provide in-person tutoring services to a Manhattan high school starting ASAP. The ideal candidate will work in-person with high school students to improve their English language skills and prepare them for the English Regents exams. Fluency in Spanish is a crucial asset as it will allow us to better support our diverse student population.
Compensation and Schedule:

• Target launch date of November 4, 2024
• Schedule of 4 five-hour days each week
• Pay range from $28-$30 per hour depending on prior tutoring experience

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide individualized and small-group tutoring sessions in English to students in grades 9-12.
• Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that cater to the diverse needs of students, particularly English Language Learners.
• Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular feedback to teachers and parents.
• Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and resources to promote student learning and engagement.
• Collaborate with school staff to establish a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
• Participate in ongoing professional development and training sessions.

Requirements

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree (or currently pursuing a degree) in Education, English, or a related field.
• Fluency in both English and Spanish.
• Previous experience in tutoring or teaching high school English.
• Familiarity with the New York State English Regents exams.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively with high school students and adapt to their individual learning needs.
